Student Perceptions of Online Engagement

This paper reports on research that extends knowledge about higher education students’ perceptions of online engagement. In particular, the study aimed to identify what students thought engagement was and how they experienced it. Understanding views will provide a more comprehensive understanding topic should assist instructional designers support academic staff develop courses are likely engage their students. Using mixed-methods approach, found felt most engaged with learning when doing practical, hands-on activities. Additional findings from qualitative quantitative data highlighted, some differences between in different types data, particularly concerning social suggests further is warranted. The offers several practical implications for student learning.
